On the 17th November 2018, St Mary’s Church was filled to capacity for a concert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ending of hostilities of the Great War on 11th November 1918. The war that had cost so many lives and decimated so many families and communities around the globe and forever changed the lives of those who returned. Written and directed by Sue Holdich and Cath Lockwood, the audience were treated to an evening of pastiches, words and music recalling the events, both distant and, all too frequently, devastatingly close to home, as they impacted those living in and around Bacton. Backdrop images and photos (courtesy P.Gipson) from the concert can be viewed here . The “Nineteen Eighteen” newspaper can be downloaded here . Everybody who attended the concert thoroughly enjoyed the evening which was both entertaining and poignant as an opportunity to remember.
