To
Commemorate
the
80th
anniversary
of
the
D-Day
landings
in
Normandy,
the
Friends
held
a
commorative
concert
on
Sunday
the
9th
June
in
St
Mary’s
church,
with
music
by
‘Sentimental Journey’.
This
followed
the
successful
Village
Fête
that
had
been
held
at
Bacton
Manor the day before.
Nearly
100
people,
many
dressing
in
clothes
of
the
day,
filled
the
church
to
hear
Sentimental
Journey
perform
a
variety
of
music
from
the
1940s,
bringing
back
memories
for
many
of
the
wartime
spirit
and
providing
the
perfect
excuse
for
everyone
to
sing
along.
Punctuated
by
their
own
recollections
and
humour,
the
evening
was
thoroughly
enjoyed
by
everyone.
A
bar
provided
refreshment
including
‘Beacon
Ale’,
a
special
commemorative
beer
from
local
brewers
‘
Humber Doucy Brewing
’.
The evening raised over £1,300 for the Friends’ funds.
